“To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.” -Tony Robbins
I am very proactive when it comes to communicating with others. I am often the first to want to make sure to include others or make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to projects and planning for events. Working in groups is something that I thrives on and is needed in order to come out with a great project. Collaboration helps me to create some of my best work because of the blending ideas of me and other collaborators. When dealing with task- oriented goals, I am very good at communicating what exactly needs to be done, and how it should be done. I am also very flexible, when it comes to communicating with a variety of people, whether it is a boss, colleague, friend, or family members.
I am also very good a non- verbal communication through listening and my actions. I take it upon myself to take action through all modes of communications so that people have multiple ways of accessing information. By giving a multitude of information it is also important that I check up with people to make sure that everyone is on the same page, especially after working on a project. One of the greatest skill I has learned over time is the importance of debriefing a project or activities, just to learn about improvements that could be made and the highs and lows of each situation.
Communication is something that I pride myself on but also realizes it can always be improved so that messages are not lost in translation. It is also important to me that I continue to grow in this area of competency so that my peers understand the point in which I want to get across. I work to improve hmy communication skills by being more vocal in the class room and offering my opinions on topics and also be being prompt in responses to let people know that we are on the same page.
