“SEEDs are what allows me to grow into the beautiful leadership flower.” -Sasha Pierre-Louis
“The SEED Leadership Program will prepare Mason students to be leaders with a commitment to service, ethics, engagement and diversity. The program will link the curricular and co-curricular components of the university allowing for theory and practice to be integrated in a student leadership laboratory. There are four guiding principles, which are woven throughout the program: Service, Ethics, Engagement and Diversity. The program is structured into four stages (mirroring Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle), which balance structure with flexibility since students will be able to go through the stages in the order of their choosing. The SEED program incorporates elements from the Social Change Model (SCM), Relational Leadership Model (RLM) and Leadership Identity Development Model (LID).” – SEED Leadership Program
Through working with different components of the SEEDs program, I have been able to become a more engaged and active leader. The LEAD Office has provided me with the tools to be successfully even after I have graduated college and enter the workforce. Service, ethics, engagement and diversity are resourceful skills we can all use to contribute to a better society. These “seeds” allow us to develop into people that care about more than ourselves but those around us. To care and lookout for others, is to make a stronger community.
